Newcastle Building Society is planning to open a brand-new branch in Guisborough, North Yorkshire.
The new branch will be our 33rd across the North East, Cumbria, and North Yorkshire and will offer our full range of services. Customers will be able to benefit from in-person support with their savings, mortgages, and financial guidance.
It’s part of our plan to grow our network to help keep financial services on the high street. Since 2015, more than 6,600 bank branches have closed across the UK. This means some people find it harder to access face-to-face financial services, and others have to travel further if they want to manage their money in person or speak to someone they know and trust.
That’s why we’re investing in our branches – growing our presence across the region to provide more people with the local, accessible, financial services support they need.
Andrew Haigh, our Chief Executive Officer
"Alongside our investment in digital services, we remain focused on our commitment to grow our branch network. Many people can't or don't want to bank solely online. Properly staffed branches where customers are served by people and not machines are vital to maintaining financial inclusion."
Since 2015, we’ve invested more than £12m to grow and improve our network of branches. We’ve recently opened our new flagship Monument branch in the heart of Newcastle city centre and opened a new branch in Pickering after the last bank in town left. We’ve also upgraded our Hartlepool and Middlesbrough branches to better serve members.
Look out for more information on our new Guisborough branch soon, including the branch team, opening hours, and details of available services.
