Kelly joined the society in November 2022 after working in the travel industry for 25 years. She made a big change by moving into financial services but felt sure that Newcastle Building Society and her values matched. Kelly says, “I knew it was a leap worth taking. The fact that the customers are at the heart of everything the society does, and the different work we do in local communities, I was keen to get involved and play my part in that.”
When asked what makes her happiest in her role as our Branch Manager in Middlesbrough, she said the people. Kelly talks about her team and how she loves building relationships with her customers. "People really are at the heart of everything we do. We have a small but perfectly formed team who all deliver amazing customer service."
Kelly is proud of the new branch location and refurbishment, saying it shows a strong promise to the people of Middlesbrough and our commitment to face-to-face financial services on the high street.

The new branch location and interior have made a huge difference to Kelly and the Middlesbrough team. "The new surroundings are so nice and make it easy to have great conversations with both new and old members."
When she's not working, Kelly loves spending time with her family and friends and going on holidays. "Whether it's camping in the Yorkshire Dales or sailing around the Caribbean, I love travelling. The world is so big, and there's still so much I haven't seen."
We asked Kelly if she had a savings tip, and she said, "Start as young as possible, whether it's a children's savings account, a Junior ISA, or a Lifetime ISA. It's never too early to save. We work hard to earn our money, so it makes sense to make sure our money works hard for us."
