Newcastle Building Society Members and colleagues contributed over £3,000 worth of donations to Changing Lives to help people experiencing homelessness.

This winter, we supported the charity with its Christmas appeal. Our branches were donation points for much-needed winter essentials, such as pyjamas, toiletries, coats, hats, scarves, and more.

Kindness in action

Thanks to the kindness of our communities, we helped Changing Lives with over £3,000 in support. Our branches were overflowing with donations, with more than 1,200 items dropped off – with an estimated value of £2,590. And a further £850 was raised through the generosity of customers and colleagues.

Changing Lives is a national charity based in the North East that provides support for people experiencing the challenges of homelessness, helping some of the most vulnerable members of our communities.

All of the donations went directly towards supporting people experiencing homelessness, addiction, or domestic abuse.

Alice Fisher, Senior Fundraiser at Changing Lives, said: "The support we’ve received from Newcastle Building Society has made a real difference to the people we support this Winter. Every donation has helped provide dignity, warmth, and hope to people who needed it most during the colder weather."

Last year we donated £3,000 from the Newcastle Building Society Community Fund at the Community Foundation North East to Changing Lives. The grant was to support the charity’s Multiple Exclusions Team (MET), who do welfare checks and give out vital supplies to people in need in Newcastle.
