Vanessa Buckle, our Pickering Branch Manager
"I’m so passionate about Pickering and how we can maintain our vibrant high street and thriving local economy. Newcastle Building Society’s commitments very much align with my own core values and beliefs and the team at our Market Place branch are all committed to delivering the best possible face-to-face service for our members. I look forward to making our new branch a central part of the local community in Pickering.”
Despite a national trend of bank branch closures, which includes several across North Yorkshire, the doors to our new branch opened at the end of September – just months after the last bank in town announced it was leaving January 2025.
Our new Pickering branch see us expand our existing offering in town to create a brand new, full-service branch on Market Place. The new branch also includes a OneBanx kiosk, which allows small businesses and personal customers of any bank that offers open banking to deposit and withdraw cash from their accounts.
Pickering is the 32nd branch in our network and the latest proof of our commitment to maintain face-to-face financial services and restore essential banking services in communities abandoned by high street banks.

Our branches also play an important role in our communities, beyond our products and services. Whether is supporting local causes, fundraising and volunteering, or helping provide important employability or financial education workshops to residents or local schoolchildren, our colleagues help create positive change across the communities we serve.
