Newcastle Building Society has partnered with Smart Works Newcastle to help unemployed women across the region into secure work.

Smart Works is a UK-wide charity that helps unemployed women, or women on zero-hour contracts with interview preparation support and clothes.

Their Newcastle team have already helped 3,000 women across the North East, with 98% of clients saying they felt like the charity had increased their chances of getting a job.

As part of the partnership, we’ve supported Smart Works Newcastle with a contribution of £10,000. Part of this funding is from the Newcastle Building Society Community Fund at the Community Foundation North East. Our colleagues will also volunteer their time and skills to support the charity’s events and fundraisers, as well as with their upcoming office move.

“Work and opportunity is a strategic community priority for us, and supporting Smart Works means our members are helping to open doors for women across the North East – whether they’re stepping into the world of work for the first time or returning after time away. Along with our new Monument branch in the city centre, the partnership underlines our commitment to the people and communities in the region.”
