That's why we've partnered with Citizens Advice Gateshead to create Helping Hand. It's a service dedicated to our members and colleagues so they can talk to an expert adviser and get support when they need it.

They provide free, confidential and impartial advice, information and guidance on a range of issues. Including: welfare benefits, housing, debt, financial wellbeing, relationships, community care, grants, and discrimination at work.

Helping Hand

Newcastle Building Society fund a full time advice expert.  A dedicated telephone and email service is available to our members and colleagues.  They can access quick support in a way which works for them.

  • Free advice and guidance that is confidential and impartial
  • Available to all of our customers and colleagues, regardless of their location
  • Accessible via phone, email, or video
  • Support with access to benefits, Universal Credit, budgeting, and debt management
  • Help with issues, including housing and relationships
  • Emergency financial support and help accessing food banks

Through Helping Hand you can access support on a variety of issues. In the past users have received cost of living support, debt management, advice, landlord issues and more.

To access Helping Hand, simply call or pop into your nearest branch if you are a branch customer. 

If you have a mortgage with us you can call, 03457 023 083. If you opened an online savings account with us, call 03457 344 345

If you'd prefer to speak to someone face to face, you can visit your nearest branch

Lines open Monday to Friday 8am - 6pm

Mortgage lines open 9am - 6pm, Monday to Thursday, and from 9am - 5pm on Friday

Calls to 0345 numbers cost the same as a call to a standard ‘01’ or ‘02’ landline number, even when calling from a mobile. Calls from landlines and mobiles are included in any bundled minutes or free call packages.  The actual cost you are charged will depend on your landline or mobile provider. Please contact them to get information about the cost of the call. We may monitor and record telephone calls for training and security purposes.
