Developed by the Community Foundation Tyne & Wear and Northumberland, Vital Signs North East 24 ‘takes the pulse’ of our region.  It identifies issues affecting our region and how individual and businesses can work together with charities and community organisations to address them.

Supported by Newcastle Building Society, Vital Signs is intended to be the start of a conversation on ten different themes: the economy, education, health, environment, culture, homes, community, justice, living standards, and access.

Vital Signs North East 24

We’re using the data and insight from Vital Signs to focus our community work and help make the North East a special place to live. Take a look at all ten themes on the Community Foundation website.

Creating long-term community impact

Our support for Vital Signs North East 2024 reflects the delivery of our Purpose, to connect our communities with a better financial future. And we’re using the unique insight from Vital Signs to inform our strategic community priorities:

  • Food poverty
  • Work and opportunity
  • Debt management
  • Homelessness
  • Sustainability and the environment

These priorities are a response to the key needs of our region and reflect the unique data and insight of Vital Signs and our work with the Community Foundation.

Whether it’s through our grant giving at Newcastle Building Society Community Fund at the Community Foundation, colleague volunteering, or working together with other likeminded organisations in our region, like the Prince’s Trust and Newcastle United Foundation, our support for Vital Signs helps us deliver our Purpose, create value for our members, and generate long-term community impact for our people and places.
