Karl joined Newcastle Building Society in September 2022 and became a member of the Executive Committee as Chief Marketing Officer in December 2023. Karl has over three decades of experience in financial services and brings deep expertise in strategic marketing, change, and purpose-led leadership.  

Karl began his career as a graduate trainee at Darlington Building Society and has held senior marketing and commercial roles across the sector, including two decades at executive and board level. Before joining Newcastle, he served as Chief Executive of Beverley Building Society, where he developed a strong belief in place-based, community-focused leadership.  

At Newcastle Building Society, Karl leads the Brand, Marketing and Corporate Affairs function, overseeing brand strategy, customer propositions, and digital and social media content across the group. He loves to build awareness, engage members, and share the stories that demonstrate the Society’s commitment to helping people and communities build better financial futures.
