Robert brings over 20 years' of experience in the financial services industry and loves being face-to-face with members as well as being out and about in the community. When asked how the branch's presence impacts the local community, he said: “I love that we are encouraged to deliver talks on finance, budgeting and scam awareness to local groups and charities, helping deliver our purpose of connecting communities with a better financial future.”
After his previous role in financial services, Robert joined Newcastle Building Society in 2022 as Northumberland Street's Branch Manager, and has now moved over to our flagship Monument branch.
“A former colleague introduced me to the job opening and spoke so highly of Newcastle Building Society’s mission and values that I felt inspired to apply. I took the leap and haven’t looked back since! I absolutely love being part of the Society. That same colleague is now the Deputy Branch Manager at my branch, making it a real full-circle moment.”
Robert now proudly leads the Monument branch and his favourite part of the role is helping his local community.
“By being in the heart of Newcastle, you get people from all walks of life, whether you’re helping them reach their savings dreams or educating people of all ages and backgrounds through financial talks.”
When asked for his top money-saving tip, he said “Get a passbook account! You’ll be less likely to take money out from it and you’ll be surprised at how much you’ll be able to save”
With the opening of the Monument branch, Robert is excited to welcome both new and familiar faces into the iconic building, “I can remember it being Geordie jeans!”
Outside of work, Robert often spends his free time as a composer for TV and Film, “I've scored three feature films and had my music featured on TV Channels such as Disney+, BBC America, Apple TV and many more. I have been doing this for over 15 years.”
