Driving value for our members in the first half of 2025

As a mutual organisation, we’re owned by our members. We’re committed to delivering on our purpose to ‘connect our communities with a better financial future’ and create value for our customers and our region.

Take a look at how we’ve continued to deliver value for our members and communities over the first 6 months of 2025.

Your money working harder for you

Between January and May 2025, our savers earned an extra £13.8m more interest thanks to our higher than market average savings rates. And residential mortgage members on our Standard Variable Rate saved over £850,000 in interest compared to the competitor market average.   Newcastle Financial Advisers Limited have been busy providing financial advice in all our branches. They have earned Top Rated firm status for the fourth year running and picked up the Client Impact Award from VouchedFor - the UK's leading review site for financial advisers.

Opening the doors of our new Monument flagship branch

Our new Newcastle city-centre branch opened in July, following a multi-million-pound refurbishment. Bringing all five floors of the building back into public use for the first time in decades, Monument is more than just a branch, it’s a place where communities and partners can come together for meaningful conversations that will make a real difference to the city and beyond.

Exciting times in Manchester

Our King Street branch, the first under our new Manchester Building Society brand, is taking shape. We can’t wait to welcome everyone through our doors later this year. In the meantime, our Manchester team are already getting stuck in, helping North West communities through volunteering.

Celebrating our commitment to passbooks

We know how much you love your passbooks to help manage your savings. Earlier this year we released three limited edition passbooks designed by local artists. Safe to say, they were a big hit.

Supporting our local communities

We have given nearly £100,000 in Community Fund grants to projects tackling the issues that matter most across the North East and North West. Meanwhile, our colleagues have rolled up their sleeves for over 4,000 hours of volunteering in the first half of 2025.

Working together for our region

Our colleagues are helping Newcastle United Foundation open doors for people through careers talks and employability skills sessions. Through Citizens Advice Gateshead, our Helping Hand service has supported more than 100 people with free, confidential support when they needed it.
