Managing your mortgage

On this page you’ll find help with common mortgage tasks and what to do next. Some changes need a chat with our team, but we’ll explain how to get started.

Make a change to my mortgage 

If you want to change your mortgage, our team can talk through your options.

Changes might include:   

  • changing the term of your mortgage
  • moving your existing mortgage to a new property (porting)
  • switching from interest only to repayment   
  • choosing a new mortgage product   
  • borrowing more money 

You can book an appointment by completing our online form, or by calling us on 0345 601 0014* (Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm). Mortgage Advice appointments are available Monday to Friday, 8am to 8pm, and Saturday, 9am to 3pm.  

Change your Direct Debit details 

If you pay by Direct Debit and want to change your bank details or your payment date, please let us know. You can call us on 0345 601 0014* (Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm) or email mortgage.services@newcastle.co.uk.

To change your payment date, you can choose one of four dates each month: the 1st, 8th, 15th or 25th.

We usually add your payment to your account on the same day we collect it. We will tell you in advance if your payment amount or date changes.

Overpay your mortgage  

You may be able to make overpayments on your mortgage, capped at 10% of your balance each year. You can also choose to make regular overpayments of up to £499.99 per month without early repayment charges. 

Your mortgage may allow extra payments. Please check your terms and conditions before sending an extra payments to us.    

Any amount of overpayment will lower your mortgage balance, and you will pay less interest over the term of your mortgage.  

Please include your full mortgage account number as the reference. If you don’t, your payment may be returned.

Making extra payments won’t shorten your mortgage term. However, they will usually lower your mortgage balance and the interest you pay over time.  

If you want to pay off your mortgage sooner by lowering the term, you’ll need to speak to one of our Mortgage Advisers. This is so they can complete an affordability check and make sure the new payments are right for you. Mortgage Advice appointments are available Monday to Friday, 8am to 8pm, and Saturday, 9am to 3pm.  

Redeem your mortgage

Redeeming your mortgage means paying off the balance in full. This can happen if:   

  • You choose to repay the loan yourself, or   
  • You move your mortgage to another lender and they repay us for you

Change your Interest Only repayment strategy 

If you have an interest only mortgage and you change how you plan to repay the full amount at the end of the term you need to let us know.

Please complete our interest only repayment plan form and tell us how you expect to repay the loan.

Get a mortgage statement

If you would like an up to date statement or copy of your annual mortgage statement our team are here to help. Please contact us on 0345 601 0014* (Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm).
